Jefferson Enterprise Management, LLC (JEM) is an integrated development company focused on the planning, financing and project management of mid to large-scale facilities. JEM’s facilities are primarily dedicated to the preservation of natural resources by converting industrial waste into recycled products.

Our Team

Al Salazar 

Al Salazar is CEO and Founder of Jefferson Enterprise, LLC and brings over 30 years committed to the funding, startup operations, and oversight of commercial scale projects.  Mr. Salazar started the Jefferson group of companies when he conceived of and executed the end-to-end development of the Jefferson Energy Terminal in Beaumont, Texas - the largest multi-modal petroleum liquids terminal in the nation.  He has now focused the Jefferson team on the development of a portfolio of “green energy” assets.

Robert Thayer 

Robert Thayer is a senior financial executive with over 30 years in capital development and financial management. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with founder and CEO, Al Salazar, on the development of successful commercial scale projects in the energy sector, including the nation’s largest multi-modal petroleum liquids facility, Jefferson Energy Terminal at the Port of Beaumont. He has served as CFO at both public and private companies over the course of his career.

Edward Germann 

Edward Germann is an executive at the Jefferson corporate level, where he works closely with Al Salazar in the development of emerging Jefferson business entities.   His focus is on building commercial relationships as well as on real estate acquisition, permitting, and community relations.   Mr. Germann also oversees day to day management of some of the Jefferson entities.  He served as CCO of Jefferson Energy Terminal where he helped build and manage key commercial relationships that fueled the growth of the Jefferson Terminal.  Mr. Germann has 20+ years experience in project and real estate development.

Richard Thayer 

Richard Thayer is Vice President of Jefferson’s newest enterprise, The Alden Group.  Starting with an opportunity identified by Al Salazar, he built the Alden business plan, recruited the team, identified the key markets, negotiated commercial contracts, organized the supporting logistics system, and is overseeing plant construction and startup.  Mr. Thayer is a Petroleum Engineer and previously managed one of the largest oil field operations in the Midland Basin for a major energy company.

 

Kim Baker

Kim Baker, CPA, is Corporate Controller for the Jefferson Enterprise companies.  She is an experienced veteran of entrepreneurial mid-market firms and brings over 30 years of financial and managerial experience to the company. In addition to her depth of experience in these fields, she brings auditing and public accounting experience, and a diversity of financial tracking experience to monitor complex businesses. Ms. Baker has previously served in a leadership capacity as both Controller and CFO for high growth private companies.

Tarun Bhatt

Tarun Bhatt manages the entire life cycle of energy infrastructure projects, including investments, engineering, commercial development, and construction.  Mr. Bhatt’s career includes research, product development and manufacturing roles at Ford Motor Company and Caterpillar. He has held senior corporate finance positions at J.P. Morgan Chase, KGS-Alpha Capital/Bank of Montreal, and Knight Capital Group. Mr. Bhatt holds bachelor’s and master’s in Engineering, and MBA/MEM from Northwestern University.

Stephanie Abrego

Stephanie Abrego manages Jefferson’s administrative segments including Human Resources, Public Relations, Government Affairs and Information Technology.  She has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Human Resources and obtained International Strategic Business Partner certificate from the CEB Leadership Academy.  Ms. Abrego’s experience spans 30 years at both private and public companies including facilities across the U.S., Canada, Panama, Puerto Rico and Amsterdam.
